For the last few months, I’ve been working with lots of different teams, helping them understand why change feels so relentless and difficult and how they might be able to do things differently and get different results.
I’ve been hearing that organisations have more to do with fewer resources, people are feeling overwhelmed with the amount of change they’re dealing with and that they’re already running out of steam as we head towards the end of the year. And it’s only September. As a result, we could see project delays, missed deadlines and a potential for a rise in sickness absences.
But it’s been positive to see how people can feel empowered to think about change differently and do something different through a range of approaches. Some of the benefits that organisations have experienced when they’ve invested in my coaching, lunch and learns and workshops, have included:
motivating teams to think differently about change, shifting from it being a negative experience to seeing the possibilities it could bring, so that more people (and organisations) benefit.
putting plans in place to work more collaboratively across teams, sharing ideas and plans, so they can provide a better customer experience
improving the understanding of how people deal with change, so everyone feels better equipped to manage their responses to it. When things are shifting rapidly and feel uncertain, it helps everyone stay on track.
Having worked with so many teams exploring this topic, I believe it’s so important to keep talking about the constancy of change in organisations.
Things are not going to slow down any time soon, but we can empower people to think feel and act differently.
If helping your teams to manage change better is important for your organisation right now and you’d like to explore how best to do that, get in touch.
P.S. while it might feel that you or your team are too busy to take time out, even for a lunch and learn, I’ve seen that exploring this topic in more depth can help to increase positivity and productivity as well as giving people the opportunity to share ideas more openly. Make sure you get in touch!
