I work as a coach, mentor and facilitator to senior leaders and their teams who are driven to make a difference and who want to put people and their wellbeing at the heart of change.

As a leader through change, you need to minimise disruption and keep your people engaged and focused on the right priorities, helping them flourish and succeed as we all face more and faster change.

You know that your role is key in creating the right culture to support healthy, sustainable change and wellbeing. And you know you need to put on your own oxygen mask first to be able to help others. But how?

Today, my clients are navigating very different workplaces – remote working and challenges in recruiting and retaining talent, while at the same time, keeping an eye on the road ahead so they can adapt and respond. All while having to deliver more with the same or less.

Throughout my career, I’ve supported leaders delivering change in large organisations including easyJet, Elsevier, Mitie and Heathrow Airport as well as charities, pharmaceutical and engineering organisations. I’ve helped them lead confidently through change by gaining clarity and driving engagement through a clear focus on their people – not systems or processes.

Jo has helped me immeasurably at two pretty tough points in my career. Her compassion, support and positive challenges have helped me find my way through to a better place. As a coach she is brilliant, she listens, she tests, she inquires, and she supports you to find the answers. Using her expertise in complex industries, and with difficult stakeholders, she understood the challenges I faced, but more than that she understood me, and genuinely coached me through these situations so I was a better version of myself. The sessions with Jo helped me find my feet, and to make the best of what was ahead.

If you want to develop your own leadership and team resilience, make people’s wellbeing a priority and deliver healthy, sustainable change, I’d love to talk.

As well as my coaching and facilitation work in organisational change:

  • I regularly speak on the topics of wellbeing, communication and change at industry and client events.

  • I’m a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and a fellow of the royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce. A qualified Mental Health First Aider, I’m currently on the path for coaching accreditation with the Association for Coaching.

  • I’m a champion for nature and the environment and firmly believe that time outdoors can be really positive for our ways of thinking and being. Trained as a Climate Change coach, I’m fascinated by the power of nature and coaching to support action and I’m exploring how this can support change leaders too.

  • I live in Cambridgeshire, where I’m wife to Mike, a sports coach and step-mum to four fabulous grown-ups. Outside my Twist client work, I’m learning to take better photos in nature, a hobby kicked off during the pandemic. As well as being a huge book-lover, I’m an armchair behavioural psychologist and a big fan of country music. I can’t wait to see more live music very soon!

my change story

My career – and change journey – properly began with a move to Finland in the 90s, working for Nokia. Armed with a post-grad in marketing, I was keen to use what I’d learned. As a languages graduate, I’ve always been fascinated by the power of words so I naturally narrowed down to communications, where I focused my career. Nearly 10 years ago, I decided to train as a coach, building on the skills and insights I’ve developed from working with some great leaders.

Moving to a different country and culture really opened my eyes to three things that shaped my career and approach forever:

  1. Change is hugely personal

  2. Brilliant leadership – and especially in times of change – can be a huge force for good

  3. Communication counts

These three things have shaped my perspective since the late 90s and form the foundation of my manifesto.

Where leaders have put people at the heart of organisational change, I’ve seen great engagement and loyalty to employers, even when people are leaving. When the focus hasn’t been on the people experience, reputations have been at risk, people’s wellbeing has been impacted and teams have been distracted, speculating and fuelling the rumour mill rather than focusing on the day job.

I was involved in one of those poorly executed change projects and that experience has fuelled me to help organisations change for the better. I’ve learned that if you put people and their wellbeing – not systems, process or leader’s egos - as the priority, you get better results and healthy, more sustainable change.

For almost 20 years, I’ve been on a quest to help leaders in large organisations to put people first in change. Building on my skills and experience in delivering communication and engagement, and particularly in change projects, I now work as a coach, mentor and facilitator, giving leaders and their teams safe spaces to think about how they’re leading in our wonky world.

This gives them the chance to explore and share ideas as well as learning how to develop their own resilience and wellbeing. So, they’re better positioned to support their people and help drive sustainable change for the better.
